Wynne,
Thanks for the proposal. It’s quite interesting and clear, and the strongest part of the proposal is the production and proposed content. However, the proposal is on the weak side when it comes to the introduction or Statement of Intent and the Reasoning for the project or the background.

You began by stating that the search for inspiration is an age-old problem, and you went on to cite the definition of inspiration from Encarta. While this may be an adequate starting point, I would have expected citations or definitions from more “inspired” sources, such as other well known artists or writers. Surely there must be interesting and important writing or art pieces on this topic that you could refer to and set the frame of reference for your project.

Remember this is a senior level university course and the project you create must not only reflect your personal journey but also reflect the intellectual context that set such a project apart from, say only a college or high school project. And please also remember that while this is a good opportunity to improve your scripting skill in Flash, the project should not be seen as primarily a technical exercise, but rather an intellectual one aided by appropriate technical tools.

So I would like you to rethink, in particular focusing on the key influences on your artistic development over the years. What school of art or thinking, what particular artists, what particular pieces of work that “inspired” you over the years. I realize that these may be issues you will be covering in the main project, but I would like to hear some preliminary observations or reference points. This will provide a bit more depth and justification for your proposal. So in addition to seeing the references to the action scripts, I would like to see some key references to discussion or work on inspiration.

Could you rework the first two sections and return the revised proposal to me by next Friday? Thanks.

Leslie
