More Sketches

After planning everything I will only need to produce all the works, and if all goes well than I will have everything ready by the end of January.

For this week I will be producing all the little clips that belong in the prototype, which should not take too long because I have all the concepts sketched out (something that I learned from Centennial). If it takes more than 2 weeks for you to produce the work- then perhaps it wasn't well planned out in the beginning. Our group only had 8 days to produce the entire prototype for S2P2, and we made it. Next Friday I will be going downtown to capture video from the subway station, and several days to put it together. Finally I will have two days to test the prototype and then execute it.

Subway Line

I think that I'm slowly but surely going a bit crazy with all of this... I've finally came up with something that would suit the notion of "inspiration" a lot better.

Subways... The intrinsic quality of a subway, usually if a person gets on a subway for the first time he doesn't really know what he's really going to expect, and the feeling of being in a subway itself is so claustrophobic and intense; the repelling sounds of strangers around you, the screeching sounds that immerse from the subway tracks. It's really a strange experience.

It is when the subway comes out from the tunnel and into the little peak of light that you suddenly feel a little bit more at ease, and a comfort feeling knowing that yes, there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel, and yes there is a way out of all of this.

I want to create a subway line. My own subway line with different destinations. This is not going to be an ordinary subway line, because some stops will not be accessible through certain stations, and there will be hidden tunnels to get to "secret" stops, that could potentially lead you to an epiphany or to the devastation of "starting all over again". The idea will be a bit more developed than this, but so far this concept works well for me.

Interesting Website

http://www.2n2media.de/V2/2N2.html

"I think I got it."

I've spent many sleepless nights thinking about how to present all this information so that it doens't seem linear or too "verbatim". It's really not as easy as it seems. I've pretty much come to a conclusion that inspiration, does not exist. It's hidden, invisible and only exists if you think it's there. Others may not see what you see, which is fine, so how am I supposed to present that. Inspiration is like a liquid, it molds and shapes to your interpretations at that given moment.

Thinking

I must say that thinking about a "creative" way to display my work is not an easy task- at all. A lot of the time I've spent thinking about how to display this in an interesting, non-linear yet suspicious way. Inspiration is like that though, it's a strange, magical and would only interest a few people. Everyone in his/her life has experienced inspiration in one way or another, but usually it's sporatic....

Perhaps I could have it so that some things are actually hidden, and without actually going through those trails you will actually never find those "chapters". You will need to search, just like in reality when we "search" for inspiration, but when we least expect it- it will appear, but sometimes it won't. THAT is interesting right there. I know that I shouldn't worry about the action scripting, but it's so difficult not to (not) think about it!!!!! Anyway, worrying is my worst enemy as always.

I'm thinking inspiration is like ________what? Exactly...

Some metaphors to liken inspiration to....

Inspiration is like ___________ as like ____________ is to ____________.

But that's more of the concept. I think that this would be a much more interesting outcome than the previous concept. I'm glad that we have those talks together, because it really gives evreyone a chance to help each other out.... to get closer to where we want to be, and improve on the things we have done.

Alright, back to the sketchbook.

Group Meeting :: 10:30am- 12:00pm

The meeting went quite well, everyone showed up on time this time.

I got some serious thinking to do with my project, and the feedback that I received was very useful with regards to planning my project. Maybe it's time to think outside of the box *lol*. Inspirating in itself really isn't a linear concept.

I will be keeping my little concepts, however my first step would be planning them on a map and thinking about how they relate to each other, or even if they do relate to each other. Perhaps I could bring the user to another 3-dimension place with my project. The notion of the garden itself is what I will be focusing on, because the act of going out there to pick, choose and explore the options is the main factor to work with.

The first step would be to think about how the different topics relate to each other, and then expand on those various subjects.

Perhaps allow the user to start somewhere, and then go through different paths, without having the freedom of 'choosing' from the navigation?

Alright, I'm getting ahead of myself again, sorry sorry... hahaha

Tentative Prototype

Ultimately this is somewhat what I want it to look like...

The menu on the side is capable of hiding and pulling out. Therefore, the user could choose if they would like to skip to a different chapter, or just follow my instructions.

The chapter would play and animate as directed...

During the animation, the user has a choice to "stop" the animation, resume, play again, or go on to the next chapter.
